We are at Helsinki Vantaa Airport in Finland. This i a short tour inside the airport where we begin at the Finnair Check-in area in Terminal 2, move down to the check-in area for all flights (also in Terminal 2), where the Junkers A50 aircraft (registration OH-ABB) flown by Finnish aviation pioneer Väinö Bremer hangs on display. From this are we move back to the Finnair check-in area and check in at the Priority Check-in area as our Finnair flight to day is on Business Class. This also means that we will not be passing through the economy class security check but through the Premium Security Control. We then continue our tour in the departures hall where we give viewers a tour through some of the airport highlighting some of the Duty Free shops, specialty shops, restaurants, bars, cafes an...
Snow, ice or slippery conditions are not a problem at Helsinki Airport or any other airport in Finland. The Finnish airport operator Finavia has invested plenty of resources in winter maintenance and thanks to the unique Finnish snow know-how, or 'knowhow', we are able to ensure safe conditions on the runways and smooth, timely operations even in the cold Finnish winter. The airports stay open in spite of snowfalls and sub-zero temperatures. The maintenance units, on call 24 for hours a day, and special machinery developed for reducing the slippery conditions of runways are the key. Safety is the first priority; that is why winter maintenance and anti-ice and de-icing treatments of runways are so important. Watch the video to see how Helsinki Airport deals with snow and ice.
I visited the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. I just wanted to see the place - I was not going to fly anywhere. I am not used to flying - I have never done any holiday travel by airplane. And I have never travelled from this airport. -------- This is in practise the only major international airport in Finland - and the only big airport. In practise if you want to fly somewhere from/to Helsinki or come here your journey will start here. It seems that check in etc. should be done by yourself, not much service. And I must say that I did not get idea how to travel by Finnair because there was no check-in. Ukrainan airlines and Turkish airlindes would have bee clear because they had check-in desks. I was also looking for the public observation platform which should be somewhere - I did not fin...
For two days in October 2014 some of the best skateboarders from East and West were connected to share their passion on the top of the world at Helsinki Airport. This first-ever skate session was hosted by Arto Saari and his world-class crew. See the amazing footage of when these skaters got access to totally unique skate spots to test the limits of the gateway between East and West. Snow and ice have the potential to impair the friction of runway surfaces. Thanks to the unique snow know-how or ‘snowhow’ in Finland, Finavia’s airports across Finland can ensure safe conditions and timely operations even in the snowy, cold Finnish winter. Watch the video to get a taste of the Finnish snowhow at Helsinki Airport and airports across Finland!
Here some my favourite airports from Finland. I hope you enjoy!
Winters in Finland can get quite snowy and cold. Thanks to the unique Finnish snow know-how, or 'snowhow', our winter maintenance is able to ensure safe conditions on the runways and timely operations even in the winter. Operations in the winter run smoothly without notable cancellations or delays at Helsinki Airport. Watch the video for scenes of the winter maintenance at Helsinki Airport 2010-2011.
More self-service points and automation were added to Helsinki Airport last year. The goal is to improve smooth travelin, the service level and the passenger handling capacity. The video shows how to check-in your baggage.
Adam Astill was paid to fly to Helsinki from London to brag about Helsinki Airport because the Finns aren't comfortable bragging about themselves - it's true. Helsinki Airport is the fastest and shortest route between East and West, Asia and Europe. See what else Adam found so great about Helsinki Airport.
Last October, five Finavia employees from different airports and units across Finland travelled for a work exchange to our sister airport Beijing Capital International Airport, which is the largest airport in Asia and the second largest airport in the world. As more and more Chinese passengers are travelling through Finavia's airports across Finland, the aim of the work exchange program was to allow Finavia's employees a chance to get to know the Chinese customer service culture and the needs of the Chinese passengers in more depth. Watch the video to see what three of our employees learned about how to provide better service for our Chinese customers.

We are at Helsinki Vantaa International Airport (HEL) in transit on our way to our connection flight. We have arrived from Copenhagen (CPH) Denmark with Finnair at Gate 27. Our end destination is Koh Samui, via Bangkok, Thailand. This footage shows the Helsinki Airport International Departures area, International Arrivals Area, Transit Area. The footage covers our airport transit path from Gate 27 to Gate 38 (with a few stops in the middle). We are heading for Gate 38 where our Finnair flight is due to begin boarding soon. The walk from Gate 27 to Gate 38 is estimated to be around 5 minutes from Gate 27 where we have disembarked the aircraft (according to Helsink Vantaa Airports own information screens). However travelers should be very aware that when making intercontinental flights from ...
